About Us

Semane Lodge is situated in the Eastern Cape on Mbewu Fields; a farm which sits on the banks of the Kouga River. This unique farm hosts 4 properties which are shrouded in mountains and blue skies and yet, lie only 13,2 km off the R62.

The luxury Semane Lodge Main House hosts 5 bedrooms and opens onto a sprawling green lawn. The smaller cosy cottages offer views of the Kouga Mountain Range and the biodiversity that the Baviaanskloof Mega Reserve world heritage site is known for. The unique Grapevine draped deck of the Kabana Style Klappabos Cottage offers a closeness to this indigenous fauna and flora.

The area teems with birdlife, fish in the Kouga River and fynbos covering the hillsides. Kudu, klipspringers, baboons and leopards are regularly spotted. The Kouga River meanders through Mbewu Fields, providing a peaceful, calming atmosphere as the water flows over the white river stones. It has natural pools for swimming, kayaking, tubing and fishing for bass and catfish. Due to these unspoiled surroundings, one can contemplate the stupendous Milky Way as it straddles the night sky.
